4.505 Assignment of Intellectual Property

    Individual faculty members have full ownership rights to lecture notes, worksheets, lesson plans, as well as non-commissioned textbooks, workbooks, or teacher guides that they have written in the course of their teaching duties at LCS. LCS has full ownership rights to curriculum guide outlines/objectives and scope and sequences. LCS does not maintain the right to market personal material outside the confines of LCS without prior written agreement with the staff involved. The ownership of commissioned material will be specified by the commissioning agreement.

    Definition of Intellectual Property
    For purposes of this policy, intellectual property (IP) includes, but is not limited to:
    • Curriculum materials, lesson plans, tests, assessments, and instructional resources.
    • Artwork, photographs, videos, musical compositions, and design materials created for school use.
    • Software, digital applications, and online content developed using school resources.
    • Research, publications, or reports produced as part of employment or contractual duties.
    • School logos, trademarks, and other proprietary symbols or identifiers.
    Use of School Name or Branding
    Creators may not use the school’s name, logo, or other identifying marks in connection with any personally owned work without prior written approval from the Superintendent or Board designee.
