It is the policy of LCS to maintain a safe and healthy educational environment through preventive health measures.

Communicable Diseases

• Individuals known or suspected to have a communicable disease that poses a significant health risk to others shall be excluded from school attendance or work duties until cleared by a licensed healthcare provider or local health authority.
• Confidentiality of any affected individual’s health information will be maintained in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Superintendent: Implements and enforces this policy, ensures compliance with public health regulations, and serves as the liaison with local health authorities.
• School Nurse or Health Coordinator: Maintains immunization records, monitors compliance, and provides education on disease prevention.
