4.302 Sick Leave
Sick Leave: Sick Leave is granted to employees to protect them from endangering their health and that of their co-workers and students. Sick Leave is only to be used if needed and is a benefit that is not to be abused. Sick Leave may be used for personal illness or to care for an ill immediate family member (spouse, child, parent, or parent-in-law). Employees must make every effort to schedule non-emergency appointments with physicians after school hours.
- Full-time ten month employees are entitled to paid leave five (5) sick days per contracted year.
- Full-time twelve month (year around) employees are not allocated sick leave. Sick leave is provided with pay on an as-approved basis at the discretion of an employees supervisor and ultimately, LCS administration. LCS allows pay for twelve month employees provided that the employee has a bona fide illness that is temporary in nature. This leave is not applied to long-term absences.
- Part-time employees do not receive paid leave.
