4.903 Legally Binding Signatories
Only individuals explicitly authorized by the Board of Directors may execute legally binding documents on behalf of LCS. Unauthorized signatures are not recognized and cannot obligate the school.

- Board Chair – Authorized to sign all contracts, legal agreements, and documents requiring Board approval, including major financial commitments, property agreements, and long-term contracts.
- Superintendent – Authorized to sign operational contracts, employment agreements, and agreements necessary for day-to-day school operations within budgetary and policy limits.
- Executive Director / Chief Financial Officer – Authorized to sign routine financial transactions, payroll documents, vendor payments, and standard operational agreements within limits established by the Board.
- No individual may obligate the school beyond approved budgetary authority without explicit Board approval.
- Certain significant transactions (e.g., real estate, loans, contracts exceeding specified thresholds) require dual signatures from the Board Chair and Superintendent.
- All signed documents must be dated, properly executed, and retained in the official records of the school in accordance with the record retention policy.
- Delegation of signing authority must be documented in writing and approved by the Board.
- The Board may revoke signing authority at any time.
- Individuals who leave employment or office at LCS lose all signing authority immediately.
