4.400 Employee Health Practices
This policy applies to all employees, including full-time, part-time, temporary, and contract staff.
General Health Expectations
All employee health information will be handled confidentially, in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
Enforcement
Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, depending on the severity of the violation and its impact on the school community.
General Health Expectations
- Employees are expected to maintain good personal health and hygiene.
- Employees should report to work in a condition that allows them to perform their duties safely and effectively.
- Employees must not attend work when ill with contagious conditions that may endanger others (e.g., influenza, COVID-19, strep throat, conjunctivitis).
- Employees who exhibit symptoms of infectious diseases (e.g., fever, coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, rash) should notify their supervisor and stay home until symptom-free or cleared by a medical professional.
- A doctor’s note may be required for absences of three (3) consecutive days.
- All employees are encouraged to participate in annual health check-ups.
- Employees should practice regular handwashing and follow hygiene protocols, especially when interacting with students.
- Food-handling staff must follow all health department requirements for sanitation and personal hygiene.
- The school provides a clean and safe environment and expects employees to contribute to maintaining it.
- Employees must promptly report any unsafe conditions, injuries, or health hazards to their supervisor or the Facilities Department.
- Employees should comply with all posted health and safety notices and participate in required training.
