4.701 Christian Role Model

LCS employees are expected to demonstrate the highest Christian virtues through both word and daily conduct. Each employee accepts the responsibility of serving as a Christian role model (1 Timothy 4:12) to students, parents, and colleagues—both within and outside the school setting—by exhibiting sound judgment, dignity, respect, and Christ-like character. Employees of LCS are called to live in a manner that honor Christ and upholds biblical standards. Scripture provides clear guidance for conduct in all areas of life; therefore, employees are expected to uphold lifestyle standards that include, but are not limited to, the following:
    1. Demonstrating a teachable spirit, an ability to share love for others, a willingness to live contentedly under authority, exercising faithful stewardship over all resources the Lord provides me, a commitment to resolving conflicts, differences and disputes with the board, any committees served on, the Administrator, and fellow staff using biblical principles following the pattern of: Matthew 18:15-17; Galatians 6:1; Romans 15:5-6; Ephesians 4:1-6; and I Corinthians 1:10-17; and presenting a united front and appropriate confidentiality in regard to pupil, parent, and school matters (Titus 3:2, Galatians 5:15)
    2. Not engaging in or encouraging any sexual misconduct, including premarital, cohabitation, extramarital, or homosexual activity; not using or viewing sexually explicit materials or websites; not practicing or permitting the sexual abuse of children. In that regard, all employees acknowledge obligations under law and policy regarding child abuse reporting requirements and agree to fulfill these obligations (I Corinthians 6:9-11, 7:2, 9:4, I Thessalonians 4:3, Romans 1:24-32, 12:1-2, Ephesians 5:3-5)
    3. Refraining from activities that may not be wise choices as a Christian role model, although an area of freedom in Christ, such as the use of alcohol, tobacco, viewing certain movies, reading certain books, vulgar or profane language, and the abuse of controlled substances (Colossians 3:17, Titus 2:7-8, I Thessalonians 2:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, 22-23, James 3:17-18); and
    4. Maintaining integrity in all personal and business relationships and demonstrating moral behavior at all times based upon biblical standards of conduct, all that the Lord Jesus Christ might have pre- eminence. (Colossians 1:18)
