4.908 Use of Force Policy
Policy Title: Campus Security Officer Use of Force
Policy & Procedure Statement: Campus Security Officers employed by Lakeway Christian Schools, while are often former police officers, are not current sworn police officers in the State of Tennessee. As private citizens, they are subject to applicable laws including but not limited to the conditions set forth in T.C.A. Title 39, Chapter 11, regarding the use of force, as may be amended from time to time.
Use of Deadly Force- LCS Campus Security Officers are authorized to use deadly force to protect themselves or others from what is objectively and reasonably believed to be an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm.
Use of Non-Deadly Force-Where deadly force is not appropriate, Campus Security Officers may use only that level of force that is objectively reasonable to bring an individual under control.
Campus Security Officers are only authorized to use non-deadly force techniques and issued equipment to:
If an LCS Campus Security Officer uses any level of force against an individual, they will immediately notify both local law enforcement and their supervisor to report the incident and to surrender custody of the individual over to local law enforcement, if in their custody. The Campus Security Officer will document actions taken during the incident, and will cooperate with any investigation commenced by local law enforcement.

- Lawfully restrain or subdue a resistant individual; and/or
- Bring a situation safely under control.
If an LCS Campus Security Officer uses any level of force against an individual, they will immediately notify both local law enforcement and their supervisor to report the incident and to surrender custody of the individual over to local law enforcement, if in their custody. The Campus Security Officer will document actions taken during the incident, and will cooperate with any investigation commenced by local law enforcement.
