    1.209 Statement on Parental Authority & Church Discipline

    • On Parental Authority - To ensure that parental authority over the education of their children is respected, teachers and administration are to remember that they do not function above parental authority, but rather with delegated authority from the parents. 

    • Church Discipline- If any church exercises church discipline over any member with whom Lakeway Christian School has a connection, the following procedure will apply:
      • The leaders of the church in question will be contacted and asked to supply a written outline of the case and the procedures which were followed. Any other believers who wish to present information to the board may do so.
      • The board will meet to consider the facts of the case. The operating assumption of the board will be the church in question exercised biblical discipline unless facts presented clearly demonstrate a violation of Scripture in substance or manner. The board will honor the discipline as needed.
      • When any church’s discipline is honored, the board is solely responsible to determine how the discipline will be honored at Lakeway Christian Schools. The Board will set the procedures and limits to be followed in the implementation of the discipline.
