4.301 Personal Leave

Personal Leave: Personal Leave is granted to employees for the purpose of transacting personal business or household or family matters that require absence from work during an employee’s normal workday, provided:
    1. The Personal Leave cannot be used for rendering services for pay.
    2. The Personal Leave cannot be disruptive to the normal educational process of the school.
Final approval to use non-emergency personal hours belongs to the school administrator. The use of these personal hours will be approved on a first-come, first-serve basis, not to exceed 10% of the number of faculty members and may be denied by the administrator to maintain school operating efficiency. Requests to use these hours must be made at least one working day in advance. A time-off request must be submitted and approved in the employee management portal before the leave takes place. Failure to do so could result in “non-payment” of the leave time. Employees are granted personal days as per their contract. Unused personal leave days cannot be carried over to a subsequent contract year. Ten-month employees will be paid for unused personal leave at the end of the school’s fiscal year.

    • Full-time ten month employees are entitled to three (3) personal days per contracted year.
    • Full-time twelve month (year around) employees are entitled to ten (10) personal days.
    • Part-time employees do not receive paid leave.
