2.606 Continuous Enrollment and Opt-Out Policy

    Policy Statement:

Lakeway Christian Schools (LCS) is committed to providing a transparent and convenient enrollment process for our students and families. Our Continuous Enrollment and Tuition Contract Policy is designed to ensure clarity and fairness while supporting our planning efforts for the upcoming academic year.

    Continuous Enrollment Process:

    1. Assumption of Enrollment: At LCS, we assume that enrolled students will continue their education with us in the upcoming academic year unless their parents or guardians opt out by the specified deadline.
    2. Financial Aid Review: Each January, LCS opens the financial aid application process for the following academic year. Returning families are required to apply for financial aid by the last day of school in May or submit a late waiver for consideration.
    3. Tuition and Fee Structure: The tuition and fee structure for the upcoming academic year is made available for review in January, allowing families to consider any adjustments or increases.
    Opt-Out and Financial Implications:

    1. Reenrollment Fee: On March 15 of each year, a non-refundable reenrollment fee of $120 will be charged to all current students who have not opted out of continuous enrollment prior to this date.
    2. Opt-Out Deadline: Families have until the last day of the current school year to opt out of continuous enrollment without incurring any additional financial liability beyond the forfeiture of the $120 reenrollment fee.
    3. Opt-Out After The Last Day of School: If a family chooses to opt out after the school year but before the first day of school, they will be liable for 50% of the value of their upcoming tuition contract. This amount is based on the tuition and fees applicable for the academic year.
    4. Opt-Out After August 6 (First Week of School): If a family opts out after the school year commences, they will be liable for the full tuition contract amount for the academic year.
    Contract Release Appeal Process:

Families who fail to opt-out before the year-end deadline may request a release from their contractual obligations for the certain verifiable reasons, including a change of residence outside the region, an unexpected change in financial stability, or a diagnosed medical condition that prevents the student from continuing in school. These circumstances are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may require an appeal to the Board of Directors for an in-person hearing to be released from further liability. The Board’s decision on a waiver for release from the contract shall be final.

We strongly encourage families to apply for financial aid early in order to have an accurate projection of their upcoming obligations well before the opt-out deadline.

    Acknowledgement and Agreement:

This policy is intended to provide families with clarity regarding their enrollment status and the associated financial implications. LCS is committed to open and honest communication throughout the enrollment process.
