4.905 Substitute Assignments

    Substitute employees may be employed temporarily to cover faculty or staff absences. All substitutes are expected to uphold the school’s mission, values, and professional standards while performing their assigned duties.

    Eligibility and Appointment:
    • Substitutes may be selected from a pre-approved list maintained by the Human Resources Department.
    • All substitutes must complete required background checks, employment paperwork, and orientation before assignment.
    • Substitutes should be in agreement with the LCS Statement of Faith and demonstrate Christ-centered character.
    Assignment and Duties:
    • Substitutes will follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the absent teacher or department supervisor.
    • Substitutes are expected to maintain classroom discipline, support student learning, and model Christ-like behavior.
    • Any deviation from planned instruction must be approved by the supervising administrator.
    Duration of Assignments:
    • Substitute assignments may range from a single day to longer-term coverage, depending on the absence and school needs.
    • Long-term substitute assignments may require additional orientation or oversight by administration.
    Compensation:
    • Substitute compensation will be determined based on the school’s current substitute pay.
    • Payment will be processed in accordance with school payroll procedures.
    Supervision and Evaluation:
    • Substitutes report to the school administrator or designated department supervisor.
    • Performance will be monitored to ensure alignment with school standards, policies, and expectations.
    Professional Expectations:
    • Substitutes are expected to uphold confidentiality, maintain professional conduct, and respect all students, staff, and parents.
    • Substitutes must adhere to all LCS policies, including safety procedures and classroom management protocols.
