5.604 Communicable Diseases

    Serious Diseases - The Principal will take every appropriate precaution to reduce the risk of infection of any student or teacher by any known serious diseases. This will include isolating or quarantining at home the students who may have the disease or have been exposed to it. Lakeway Christian Schools cannot be held responsible for the communication of any serious disease that was introduced to the school without the knowledge of the administration. 
    Upon receiving reliable information that a student or teacher has contracted or has been in contact with a serious disease the School Nurse will immediately contact local health officials and/or the CDC. The Superintendent in consultation with the Principal and Nurses will determine what actions are necessary. The parents of the affected student will be contacted as soon as possible. The student may be asked to remain home for a specific or undetermined length of time. Closure of the school may be necessary in extreme cases. All cases of serious diseases that have affected or could affect the school will be reported to the board.
     
    Serious diseases defined:  Those diseases which are potentially life-threatening, or which can cause permanent bodily damage, and be communicated from one person to another.
