4.103 Job Descriptions
Policy Statement
Lakeway Christian Schools shall maintain a written job description for each employment position. Job descriptions are official documents that define the scope of duties, reporting structure, essential functions, and minimum qualifications for each role within the institution.
Development and Approval
Each job description shall include the following elements:

Development and Approval
- The Superintendent (or designate) is responsible for developing and maintaining job descriptions for all staff positions.
- For administrative, leadership, or newly created roles, job descriptions must be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors.
- Job descriptions must be aligned with the school's mission, educational philosophy, and—if applicable—its religious or cultural values.
Each job description shall include the following elements:
- Job Title
- Department/Division
- Supervisor Title
- Job Summary/Purpose
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Required Qualifications and Certifications
- Preferred Qualifications (if applicable)
- Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Terms of Employment (e.g., full-time, part-time, exempt/non-exempt)
- Evaluation Method
Job descriptions shall be used for the following purposes:
- Recruiting and hiring new employees
- Onboarding and orientation
- Setting expectations for job performance
- Conducting performance evaluations
- Determining appropriate compensation
- Supporting professional development and training
- Reviewing role clarity during organizational changes
- Job descriptions must be reviewed annually by supervisors and updated as needed to reflect changes in job duties, organizational structure, or legal requirements.
- Any substantive changes to job descriptions must be communicated to the affected employees and, where appropriate, approved by the Head of School or Board.
- Employees shall be provided with a copy of their job description at the time of hiring and whenever the description is updated.
