4.104 Recruitment
The goal of LCS is to recruit and hire the best qualified candidate for each position, giving consideration to credentials, experience, and cultural fit.
A valid Tennessee (or other state) teaching certificate is not required for teaching at LCS. However, such a certificate is highly desirable and recommended. All teachers must have received at least a Bachelor’s degree, as well as college training in the area(s) to which they are assigned. During the recruitment and selection process, those applicants with a valid teaching certificate will be given priority and, other things being equal, may be hired over those applying without a certificate. Such priority will be given to a certified applicant because the certificate insures the person has had some classroom experience, and that the person has received some basic classroom management training. The Administrator will encourage teachers to pursue ongoing college or graduate level study in their area of teaching responsibility. Teachers and Administrators are required to pursue and maintain certification in accordance with school accreditation.
- The authorization of all school system positions rests with the board.
- Personnel employment shall be within the discretion of the Superintendent.
- The Superintendent is responsible for the development of a program for the recruitment of licensed personnel.
- Identification of personnel needs shall be the responsibility of the superintendent, supervisors, and building principals.
